My name is Devon. I am first and foremost a pilot. I love to fly and travel, however I am also what many will term a renaissance man. I have many talents, and enjoy many facets of life. My parents are divorced, and my Mom who, moved over 1,000 miles away falsely led me to believe that she truely cared about me (in order to use me as a weapon against my father) for nearly nine years, has now abandoned me. Luckily I have been able to see past this for the last two years or so. Finally she abandoned me, which I count as a good thing, I don’t have to worry, or deal with her anymore. On that same note I love family, have always wanted a close-knit family, however mine is spread across the continental 48 states. So I have a feeling after college I will be flying away to find or create my roots.
J’adore le francais, et les francophones! Je veux parler le francais toujours et avec n’importe qui. (I love French, and French speaking people! I want to speak French everyday and with everyone). I would consider my self fluid in the language, and plan to continue studying it at Daytona University (around the corner from ERAU). My dream would be to for some period of time live in Paris, and fly for Air France.
I also love classic literature, and plays. Edmond Rostand, Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekhov, and Franz Kafka are a few of my favourite authors. (I know I love the ‘our’s as in neighbours it is how the English spell it who invented language, so I have a tendency to spell them that way as well). In addition I have a rather eclectic taste for music. Although I love the entire genre of ’Big Band’ or ‘Swing’, with artists such as Glenn Miller, there are other songs and groups that I love as well. Paris Combo for example is a “Neuveaux Grande-Groupe” or new grand band, and world music, all in French. I also love Tchaikovsky, and other classics. For more contemporary music I love ”You’ve got to make your own kind of music” by Elliot Cass (mama cass) I love the up-beat lyrics. I also love Downtown by Petula Clark, and have every variation of Aux Champs-Elysees by Joe Dassin ever made.
A summary of me, I am a Pilot, avid Lost fan, renaissance man, love technology, 18 and starting my Freshman year at ERAU this year. Please join me as I embark upon this crazy voyage, quest motif for knowledge called ’University’. I hope you find it interesting, entertaining, and worth your time.
